Medicine Overview OF Pantoprazole
Pantoprazole, a proton-pump inhibitor, works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach and is used in peptic ulcer disorders.

When to use
Peptic ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), eradication of H. pylori infection (as a component of multidrug therapy), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, erosive oesophagitis

How to use
Gastro esophageal reflux disorder: Oral: 20-40 mg /day in the morning for 4 weeks, up to 8 week if needed. Maintenance: 20-40 mg/day. Peptic ulcer 40 mg/day in the morning. Duration: Duodenal ulceration: 2-4 week; Benign gastric ulceration: 4-8 weeks. H. pylori infection : 40 mg twice daily with clarithromycin and either amoxicillin or metronidazole. Prophylaxis of NSAID-associated peptic ulcer: 20 mg/day. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory states: Initial: 80 mg/day. Max: 240 mg/day. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory states: As Na salt: 80 mg/day. Max: 240 mg/day in divided doses if rapid control required. GERD, peptic ulcer: As Na salt: 40 mg/day until oral can be resumed.
